Single cards are words. To turn them into a phrase, switch on the “add to selected” mode in settings.

After that, a tap no longer speaks the card right away — it adds it to the phrase line. Tap “I want”, then “Apple”.

The play button builds and speaks the whole phrase — “I want an apple”. This is how the student moves from single words to a full utterance.
